KLOOFING/CANYONING

So what is Kloofing: it is an outdoor adventure that involves the ascent or descent of a watercourse using specified equipment and specialised techniques excluding a water craft. The course or courses are waterways filled with various hazards that can be difficult to negotiate. But most importantly these gorges can be difficult to access and are often enclosed by vertical cliff sides. Kloofing is not caving.

Kloofing/canyoning is not about fear, no seriously….. it’s more about ADVENTURE and experiencing the unknown whilst attached to a rope and climbing harness, and walking backwards off a 150-foot cliff or straddling a rush of whitewater down a mossy embankment; or leaping into cool pools fed by waterfalls.

WHAT TO PACK:

Hiking shoes (approach shoes), then any old shoes(no hiking boots) with soft soles for better grip when in gorge, shorts, swimsuit, sunscreen, a waterproofed camera, cellphone or GoPro. Email us for a detailed pack list for your chosen package! Pebble Sky supplies all safety gear for your adventure.

TIPS:

Adventure is not about style, it is about nature and your inner smile.

Minimize risks by listening to safety instructions! SAFETY FIRST

Conquer your fear through fun.

[Devin, Keith and Mario]

DID YOU KNOW:

Strictly speaking, ‘kloofing’ is an Afrikaans word, derived from ‘kloof’ meaning ‘cliff’. It has been adopted by English-speaking people (mostly in southern Africa), to mean the sort of hiking described above.
